Multi-channel Wireless Base Station 8 zones
The Legom Multi-channel Wireless Base Station is the central control hub for room-by-room temperature management in underfloor heating and hydronic HVAC systems, designed for 8 heating zones at 230V. Unlike wired base stations that require signal cables to run between the thermostat and the controller, this wireless version receives thermostat commands via a radio frequency signal — eliminating thermostat signal wiring entirely and significantly reducing installation complexity in retrofit and renovation projects.
Supporting up to 8 thermostats and 16 actuators, the wireless base station retains integrated pump and boiler control outputs and the same Normally Closed (NC) control direction used in Legom’s wired base station range. Actuator wiring from the base station to the manifold remains conventional, while the thermostat-to-controller communication operates wirelessly.
Key Benefits
- Wireless thermostat communication – Eliminates the need to run signal cables between room thermostats and the base station, significantly reducing installation time and disruption in renovation projects or buildings where cable routing through walls and floors is impractical
- 8-zone room-by-room temperature control – Connects up to 8 wireless thermostats and up to 16 actuators, enabling independent temperature management across 8 separate heating zones from a single central unit
- Integrated pump and boiler control – Built-in outputs for both pump and boiler circuits manage the heating system automatically, starting when any zone calls for heat and shutting down when all zones are satisfied
- Screwless terminal connection technique – Actuator, pump, and boiler connections all use push-in clamping technology for fast, tool-free wiring
- Normally Closed (NC) control direction – Standard NC configuration ensures heating zones default to active when no command is present, providing fail-safe warmth during signal loss or control faults
- IP20 protection – Suitable for indoor installation in utility rooms, airing cupboards, and plant rooms alongside the heating manifold
- ABS housing – Lightweight, durable construction rated for ambient temperatures from 0°C to 50°C
- OEM and ODM customization available – Zone count, voltage rating, and control direction can be customized for specific system requirements

Application & Use Cases
- Renovation and retrofit heating upgrades – The primary advantage of the wireless base station. Adding zone-by-zone temperature control to an existing building without the need to run thermostat signal cables through finished walls, floors, or ceilings
- Underfloor heating systems in completed buildings – Where the manifold has already been installed but running cable back to each room thermostat would require significant structural disruption
- Listed buildings and heritage properties – Where surface-mounted cable runs are aesthetically unacceptable and concealed cable routing is restricted by preservation requirements
- Multi-room residential and light commercial installations – Any 8-zone heating project where wireless thermostat communication simplifies the overall system design and reduces commissioning time
- Installations with complex floor plans – Buildings where cable routing between thermostat locations and the central manifold room would be particularly long or difficult due to structural layout
Installation Notes
- Mount the base station on the wall near the heating manifold using the standard wall installation method. The unit requires a 230V mains supply at the installation location
- Actuator wiring is conventional — connect actuators from the manifold to the base station actuator terminals using standard cable. Only the thermostat-to-controller communication is wireless
- Connect pump and boiler to the respective control outputs on the base station using standard cable connections
- Each wireless thermostat must be paired to its corresponding zone on the base station during commissioning. Refer to the pairing procedure in the product manual for step-by-step instructions
- Ensure the base station and wireless thermostats are within effective RF communication range. Thick concrete walls, metal structures, and other radio frequency sources may reduce range or cause interference
- Position wireless thermostats away from other RF devices, large metal objects, and sources of heat or cold drafts that could affect accurate temperature sensing
- Use screwless push-in terminals for all wired connections — cables from 0.2mm² to 1.5mm² with vertical entry are accepted
- Do not expose the unit to ambient temperatures outside the 0°C to +50°C operating range
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the main difference between this wireless base station and the wired TCC or BS-Y6?
The fundamental difference is how the base station communicates with room thermostats. In the wired TCC and BS-Y6, thermostat signal cables must be physically run from each room thermostat back to the base station — typically routed through walls, floors, or conduit. In the wireless base station, thermostat commands are transmitted via radio frequency signal, eliminating these signal cables entirely. The actuator wiring from the base station to the manifold valves remains the same in both configurations. Wireless is the preferred choice for renovations and retrofits; wired is the preferred choice for new construction where cables can be installed during the build.
Does wireless mean no cables at all?
No. The base station itself still requires a 230V mains power cable. The actuators on the manifold are still connected to the base station with physical cables. What is wireless is the communication between the room thermostats and the base station — thermostats transmit their demand signal via RF rather than through a signal cable. Each room thermostat will also require its own power source, typically batteries.
How many zones and actuators can be connected?
The wireless base station supports up to 8 independent heating zones with up to 8 paired wireless thermostats and up to 16 actuator terminals — allowing 2 actuators per zone for larger rooms served by two manifold loops.
What happens if the wireless signal is lost between a thermostat and the base station?
The base station uses Normally Closed (NC) control logic, which means actuators default to open (heating active) when no signal is received. If wireless communication is lost, the affected zone will continue to heat until the signal is restored or the system is manually adjusted. This fail-safe behavior prevents rooms from becoming cold during temporary signal interruptions. For permanent signal issues, check for interference sources and ensure the thermostat is within effective range.
Is this base station compatible with Legom wireless thermostats only?
The base station is designed to work within the Legom wireless heating control ecosystem. Compatibility with third-party wireless thermostats depends on the RF protocol used. Contact the Legom team to confirm compatibility before mixing brands in a single installation.
