Multi-channel Wired Base Station 6 zones
The BS-Y6 Multi-channel Wired Base Station is the central connection unit for room-by-room temperature control in underfloor heating and hydronic HVAC systems. Designed for 6 heating zones at 230V, the BS-Y6 connects all system components — thermostats, actuators, pump, and boiler — through a single wiring hub, simplifying installation and eliminating the need for separate control modules for each zone.
All switching commands from connected thermostats are forwarded directly to the corresponding actuators, while integrated pump and boiler control outputs manage the heating circuit automatically. With screwless terminal connections, LED status indicators for every zone, and two installation methods (wall screw or magnetic plate), the BS-Y6 is designed for fast, intuitive commissioning with minimum wiring effort.
Key Benefits
- 6-zone room-by-room temperature control – Connects up to 6 thermostats and up to 12 actuators simultaneously, enabling independent temperature management in up to 6 separate heating zones from a single unit
- Integrated pump and boiler control – Built-in potential-free contacts for both pump and boiler circuits with a 2-minute start delay and follow-up time, preventing conflicts between internal and external water pumps and protecting the heating system from short cycling
- Screwless terminal connection technique – All connections use push-in clamping technology for fast, tool-free wiring that reduces installation time and eliminates loose connection risks
- Dual installation method – Can be wall-mounted with two M4 screws or attached magnetically to a metal plate without any screws, adapting to different installation environments and preferences
- LED status signalling per zone – Individual yellow LED per heating zone, plus LEDs for boiler/pump active and operating status, visible even with the casing cover closed
- Normally Closed (NC) control direction – Standard NC configuration ensures heating zones default to open (active heating) when no command is present, providing fail-safe warmth during control system faults
- 120-second delayed start – Prevents conflicts between internal and external water pumps during system startup
- Compact and maintenance-free – ABS housing at 184 × 67 × 35mm with IP20 protection, DIN EN 60730-1 compliant cable guide and strain relief, and no serviceable parts requiring periodic maintenance

Application & Use Cases
- Underfloor heating systems with multiple zones – The primary application. The BS-Y6 acts as the central hub connecting room thermostats to thermal actuators on the manifold, enabling each room to maintain its own target temperature independently
- Hydronic radiator systems with zone valves – Used as the control center for multi-room radiator systems where each zone is controlled by a thermostat and a zone valve actuator
- Residential heating systems with boiler and pump integration – The built-in pump and boiler control outputs allow the BS-Y6 to manage the complete heating circuit, starting the pump and boiler only when at least one zone calls for heat
- Renovation and retrofit heating control upgrades – The simple wiring concept and dual installation method make the BS-Y6 practical for upgrading existing heating systems to room-by-room zone control without major structural changes
- Small commercial buildings and offices – Suitable for multi-room commercial spaces requiring independent temperature control in up to 6 zones from a single, centrally-mounted controller
Installation Notes
- Wall installation (screw method): Mark two fixing holes, drill, and install the base station with M4 dowels and screws. The unit must be horizontally aligned. Tighten screws by hand after alignment
- Wall installation (magnetic method): The base station attaches to a metal plate via magnets on the back — no screws required. Fix the metal plate to the wall first, then attach the unit
- Loosen the casing cover at both latching points with a screwdriver before beginning any wiring. The cover can be removed and replaced without tools after initial installation
- Lay all cables through the integrated strain relief before connecting. Route cables using the internal cable guide channels before making terminal connections
- All connections use screwless push-in terminals — no screwdriver is required for wiring. Cables from 0.2mm² to 1.5mm² are accepted with vertical entry
- Connect thermostats to the thermostat terminals and actuators to the actuator terminals. The BS-Y6 supplies voltage directly to connected thermostats and actuators — no separate power supply for these components is required
- Connect the pump and boiler to the respective potential-free contact outputs. Both circuits have a fixed 2-minute turn-on delay and 2-minute follow-up time after the last zone deactivates
- Close the casing cover and apply mains voltage to complete commissioning. The unit is immediately ready to operate
- Do not expose the unit to ambient temperatures outside the 0°C to +50°C operating range or humidity above 80% non-condensing
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a base station and what role does it play in an underfloor heating system?
A base station is the central wiring and control hub of a multi-zone heating system. It receives signals from room thermostats and routes switching commands to the corresponding thermal actuators on the manifold valves, opening or closing each zone based on the thermostat’s demand. It also manages the pump and boiler outputs, starting the pump when any zone calls for heat and shutting everything down when all zones are satisfied. Without a base station, each thermostat would need to be wired independently to its actuator and to the boiler/pump circuit, which is significantly more complex and error-prone.
How many actuators can be connected to the BS-Y6?
The BS-Y6 provides terminals for up to 12 actuators across its 6 zones, allowing up to 2 actuators per zone. This is useful for larger rooms or open-plan spaces where two manifold loops — and therefore two actuators — serve a single thermostat-controlled zone.
What is the purpose of the 2-minute turn-on delay?
The 2-minute delay before the pump and boiler activate prevents the system from short-cycling during brief thermostat switching events. It also prevents conflicts between the internal control logic and external water pump commands at startup, protecting the pump from repeated rapid start-stop sequences that can reduce its service life.
Does the BS-Y6 work with any thermostat and actuator brand?
The BS-Y6 is compatible with standard 230V thermostats and NC (Normally Closed) thermal actuators. It is designed to work within the Legom HVAC ecosystem alongside Legom room thermostats and thermal actuators, but the standard terminal connections and voltage supply are compatible with most third-party 230V heating control components. Verify that your thermostat output and actuator specifications match the BS-Y6’s rated switching power of 2A / 200VA before installation.
What does Normally Closed (NC) control direction mean for this system?
In an NC system, the thermal actuator is in its open (flow-on) position when no electrical signal is present, and closes (stops flow) when energized by the thermostat. The BS-Y6 is configured for NC actuators as standard, which means heating zones are active by default and the thermostat commands the system to stop heating when the target temperature is reached. This is the most common configuration for underfloor heating systems in Europe.
Can the BS-Y6 be expanded to more than 6 zones?
The BS-Y6 is fixed at 6 zones as designed. For systems requiring more zones, Legom also offers an 8-zone base station variant in 230V. Contact the Legom team to discuss multi-unit configurations or larger-capacity control solutions for your project.
