HFT40016T-01 Memory Alloy Thermostatic Valve, G1/2

The Legom HFT40016T-01 Memory Alloy Thermostatic Valve G1/2 is a compact domestic thermostatic mixing valve using a shape memory alloy (SMA) thermostatic element in a G1/2 internal thread body. The smallest connection size in the Legom SMA thermostatic valve series, the HFT40016T-01 brings the long-term calibration stability and cycle fatigue resistance of SMA technology to single-fixture and small domestic water heater installations where a G1/2 connection is specified.

Like all HFT SMA models, the valve delivers the same ±2°C temperature accuracy as wax cartridge TMVs while eliminating the wax capsule leakage risk that can cause calibration drift in high-cycle installations over time. Temperature adjustment range is 20–60°C, working pressure range 0.03–1 MPa. Manufactured from 57-3 copper with nickel plating with a white ABS silk-screen handwheel.

Key Benefits
  • SMA element — solid-state, no wax capsule – Metallic shape memory alloy actuation with no liquid wax to contain, eliminating wax micro-leakage and providing exceptional cycle fatigue resistance for long-term calibration stability
  • G1/2 connection — smallest SMA TMV in the Legom range – Brings SMA technology to G1/2 (DN15) installations including single-fixture point-of-use applications, compact domestic water heaters, and installations where G3/4 connections are not required
  • ±2°C accuracy identical to wax TMVs – Same temperature control performance as the wax HFT30001 G1/2 at the same connection size, with the additional benefit of SMA element longevity
  • 20–60°C adjustment range – White handwheel for full-range commissioning flexibility, with factory-preset narrower ranges available for safety applications
  • No electricity required – Self-acting SMA thermostatic operation with no electrical connection needed
  • 57-3 copper with nickel plating – Corrosion-resistant body for durable domestic hot water service
  • Wide pressure range 0.03–1 MPa – Including low-pressure gravity-fed systems from 0.03 MPa
  • Customizable preset temperature ranges – OEM orders can specify factory-preset ranges for restricted-adjustment applications

HFT40018T-01 G1 DN25 Light commercial / larger domestic

Application & Use Cases
  • Single-fixture point-of-use installations – Installed close to an individual basin, shower, or bath where a compact G1/2 connection is preferred and the SMA element’s long-term stability reduces the need for periodic recalibration at each fixture
  • Small domestic electric and solar water heaters with G1/2 outlets – Where the heater outlet connection is G1/2 and a premium-longevity TMV is preferred over the standard wax HFT30001 G1/2
  • Premium residential installations – Homeowners or developers specifying the highest available TMV element technology at the smallest connection size for long-term, low-maintenance hot water safety
  • Vulnerable user domestic environments – Where the SMA element’s resistance to calibration drift provides additional confidence that the valve continues to deliver safe water temperature between annual inspection intervals

Installation Notes
  • Connect hot water to the hot inlet (H), cold water to the cold inlet (C), and mixed outlet (M) to the fixture supply using male G1/2 fittings with appropriate thread sealant
  • Install isolation valves upstream of both hot and cold inlets
  • Install a strainer on the cold inlet to protect the SMA element from debris
  • The valve performs optimally at 0.1–0.5 MPa
  • Verify outlet temperature at the fixture with a calibrated thermometer after installation
  • Flush supply lines before installation to remove debris

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the HFT40016T-01 and the HFT30001 G1/2?

Both are G1/2 thermostatic mixing valves with identical connection size, temperature range (20–60°C), accuracy (±2°C), and pressure specifications. The HFT30001 G1/2 uses a conventional wax cartridge element — proven and cost-effective. The HFT40016T-01 uses a shape memory alloy element that provides the same accuracy with superior long-term calibration stability and no wax capsule leakage risk. Choose the HFT40016T-01 when long service life between maintenance interventions and resistance to calibration drift are priorities.

What is a shape memory alloy thermostatic element?

A shape memory alloy (SMA) is a metallic material — typically a nickel-titanium alloy — that undergoes a reversible solid-state phase transformation when heated or cooled through its transition temperature, generating a precise and repeatable mechanical movement. Unlike a wax cartridge where liquid wax expands and contracts inside a sealed capsule, the SMA element is a solid metal component with no liquid phase and no capsule to leak. The transformation can be repeated millions of times without fatigue, providing a thermostatic element with inherently longer calibration life than conventional wax designs.

Can the temperature range be factory-preset?

Yes. OEM and project orders can specify factory-preset ranges of 35–55°C, 40–50°C, or 30–60°C that mechanically restrict handwheel travel. Contact the Legom team to specify the required preset range when ordering.
