HFT40012Z-01 Thermostatic Valve
The Legom HFT40012Z-01 Thermostatic Valve is a G1 thermostatic mixing valve with movable water inlet and outlet joints and a spark pattern silk-screen handwheel, designed for water heater installations where pipework alignment at the valve connection points cannot be guaranteed to match a fixed-orientation valve body. The movable joint design allows the inlet and outlet connections to be repositioned to accommodate the actual pipe positions, eliminating the need for additional elbow fittings or pipe offsets to reach a fixed-port valve body.
Manufactured from 57-3 copper with surface plating, the HFT40012Z-01 delivers the same thermostatic mixing performance as the wider HFT series — temperature adjustment range 20–60°C, control accuracy ±2°C, working pressure range 0.03–1 MPa — with the added installation flexibility of adjustable connection joints on both the inlet and outlet ports. Compatible with hot water inlet 30–99°C and cold water inlet 5–29°C.
Key Benefits
- Movable inlet and outlet joints — full connection flexibility – Unlike fixed-port TMVs where all connection points are at defined fixed positions, the HFT40012Z-01’s movable joints allow both the inlet and outlet connections to be repositioned to meet the actual pipe positions at the installation point, accommodating misaligned or offset supply pipework without additional fittings
- Eliminates offset fittings in misaligned pipework – In retrofit and renovation installations where existing pipework does not align perfectly with a standard valve body’s fixed ports, movable joints allow the valve to adapt to the pipe positions rather than requiring the pipework to be modified to reach the valve
- Spark pattern silk-screen handwheel – Distinctive decorative graphic print on the handwheel provides a premium visual finish alongside the valve’s installation flexibility advantage
- G1 connection (DN25) for larger domestic and light commercial flow – Higher flow capacity than standard G3/4 domestic models, suited to larger domestic storage water heaters and light commercial applications
- ±2°C temperature control accuracy – Consistent mixed water delivery within ±2°C of the set point across varying supply pressure and temperature conditions
- 20–60°C adjustment range – Full-range commissioning flexibility with factory-preset narrower ranges available for safety applications
- No electricity required – Self-acting thermostatic operation with no electrical connection needed
- 57-3 copper with surface plating – Durable copper alloy body for potable hot water service
- Wide pressure range 0.03–1 MPa – Covers gravity-fed through mains-pressure systems

Application & Use Cases
- Retrofit and renovation installations with existing pipework – The most common application for movable joints. Where existing hot and cold supply pipes do not align precisely with a standard fixed-port valve body, movable joints allow the valve to connect to the existing pipes without cutting, extending, or rerouting them
- Replacement of existing TMVs in established installations – When the replacement valve body geometry differs slightly from the original, movable joints absorb the positional difference without requiring pipework modification
- Installations in confined spaces with limited alignment control – Tight cabinet, under-sink, and in-wall installations where achieving precise pipe alignment to a fixed-port valve is impractical due to space constraints
- Solar thermal and heat pump water heaters – Where the heater outlet connection positions may not align precisely with the TMV’s fixed port positions due to product variation or installation tolerance
- OEM water heater integration requiring connection flexibility – Product designs where the TMV must accommodate assembly tolerance variation in the water heater’s outlet connection positions
Installation Notes
- Position the valve body at the installation point and adjust the movable joints on the hot inlet (H), cold inlet (C), and mixed outlet (M) to align with the actual pipe positions before tightening any connections
- Tighten all movable joint connections fully and evenly after alignment — partial tightening of movable joints can result in leakage under operating pressure
- Use appropriate thread sealant on all G1 thread connections at the movable joint interfaces
- Install isolation valves upstream of both hot and cold inlets to enable servicing without shutting down the water supply
- Install a strainer on the cold inlet to protect the thermostatic cartridge from grit and debris
- The valve performs optimally at 0.1–0.5 MPa
- After installation and before commissioning, check all movable joint connections under operating pressure for leaks — movable joint connections are more sensitive to incomplete tightening than standard threaded connections
- Verify outlet temperature at the furthest fixture with a calibrated thermometer before commissioning for occupant use
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a movable water inlet and outlet joint?
A movable joint is a swivel or articulating connection fitting integrated at the valve’s inlet and outlet ports that allows the connection point to be repositioned — typically rotating or swiveling — to meet a pipe that is not perfectly aligned with the valve body’s fixed port position. Unlike a standard fixed threaded port where the pipe must come straight from the same direction, a movable joint can compensate for angular misalignment or positional offset between the pipe and the valve port. Once the correct position is found, the joint is tightened to lock it in place and seal the connection.
How does the HFT40012Z-01 differ from the union inlet models?
The union inlet models (HFT40010Z-01, HFT40011Z-01) have a union fitting only at the hot water inlet, allowing that connection to be broken and re-made easily for servicing — but the port direction is still fixed. The HFT40012Z-01 has movable joints at all connections (both inlets and outlet), allowing the direction of each connection to be adjusted to align with offset or misaligned pipes. The union inlet is primarily a service access advantage; movable joints are primarily an installation alignment advantage.
Can the temperature range be factory-preset?
Yes. OEM and project orders can specify factory-preset temperature ranges of 35–55°C, 40–50°C, or 30–60°C that mechanically restrict handwheel travel. Contact the Legom team to specify the required preset range when ordering.
