HFT30001 Temperature Limiting Valve, G1/2
The Legom HFT30001 Temperature Limiting Valve G1/2 is a thermostatic mixing valve designed for water heater installations, delivering mixed water at a preset safe outlet temperature by automatically blending hot and cold water supply. With a standard exit temperature of 52°C and a temperature adjustment range of 20–60°C (with narrower preset ranges available), the HFT30001 G1/2 prevents scalding at hot water outlets without requiring any electrical connection or external control.
Manufactured from 57-3 copper with nickel plating, the HFT30001 G1/2 features a G1/2 internal thread connection for smaller-diameter installations where G3/4 connections are not required. It operates across a working pressure range of 0.03–1 MPa with an ideal range of 0.1–0.5 MPa, covering standard domestic water supply pressures. Cold water inlet temperature range is 5–29°C and hot water inlet range is 30–99°C, covering electric, gas, and solar water heater output temperatures.
Key Benefits
- G1/2 connection for smaller-diameter installations – The G1/2 internal thread suits installations where the supply pipework or water heater outlet connection is 1/2″ rather than 3/4″, providing the same thermostatic performance as the G3/4 variant in a smaller connection size
- Standard exit temperature of 52°C – Factory-calibrated default outlet temperature of 52°C provides immediate anti-scald protection upon installation without requiring user adjustment
- Temperature control accuracy of ±2°C – Consistent mixed water delivery within ±2°C of the set point across varying supply pressure and temperature conditions
- Adjustable temperature range of 20–60°C – The ABS handwheel allows adjustment across the full range, with factory-preset narrower ranges (35–55°C, 40–50°C, 30–60°C) available for applications requiring restricted adjustment
- No electricity required – Self-acting thermostatic operation powered entirely by the differential temperature of the hot and cold water supplies
- 57-3 copper body with nickel plating – High-quality copper alloy body with nickel surface treatment provides corrosion resistance and durability in potable hot water service
- Wide pressure range of 0.03–1 MPa – Operates across a very wide supply pressure range, including low-pressure gravity-fed systems (from 0.03 MPa) through standard mains pressure up to 1 MPa
- Compatible with all domestic water heater types – Hot water inlet range of 30–99°C covers electric storage, gas instantaneous, solar thermal, and heat pump water heater output temperatures
- Customizable preset temperature ranges – OEM orders can specify a factory-preset temperature range to restrict user-adjustable range for safety or application requirements

Application & Use Cases
- Electric storage water heater outlets with G1/2 connections – Installed directly on smaller-diameter water heater outlet connections where the G3/4 variant would require a reducer fitting
- Solar thermal water heating systems – Solar storage tanks regularly reach very high temperatures during peak solar gain. The HFT30001 G1/2 limits delivered water temperature to the set point regardless of storage temperature
- Compact domestic hot water installations – In smaller apartments, studio units, and compact bathroom installations where G1/2 pipework is the standard connection size throughout the system
- Low-pressure gravity-fed hot water systems – The 0.03 MPa minimum working pressure allows use in gravity-fed systems common in older buildings and rural installations
- Single-fixture or point-of-use anti-scald protection – The smaller G1/2 connection size is well suited to single-fixture installations where a dedicated TMV is installed close to an individual basin, shower, or bath
Installation Notes
- Connect hot water supply to the hot inlet (H), cold water supply to the cold inlet (C), and mixed water outlet (M) to the distribution pipework or fixture supply
- The G1/2 internal thread connections require male G1/2 fittings on supply and outlet pipes. Use appropriate thread sealant on all connections
- The valve functions correctly across the full 0.03–1 MPa pressure range but performs optimally at 0.1–0.5 MPa
- After installation, run hot water from a downstream fixture and verify outlet temperature with a thermometer to confirm the valve is delivering water at the intended set temperature
- To adjust the set temperature, turn the ABS handwheel — allow the system to stabilise for at least 1 minute after each adjustment before measuring outlet temperature
- Flush pipework before installation to remove debris that could damage the thermostatic cartridge
Frequently Asked Questions
When should I choose the G1/2 version over the G3/4?
Choose the G1/2 when your water heater outlet connection or supply pipework is 1/2″ diameter. G1/2 provides slightly lower flow capacity than G3/4 at equivalent pressure, making it appropriate for single-fixture or low-flow applications. For whole-house or multi-fixture installations, or where the heater outlet is 3/4″, choose the G3/4 variant. If the heater outlet is G3/4 and you want to use the G1/2 valve, a reducer fitting can be used, though this adds a joint and slightly increases pressure drop.
Why is the standard exit temperature set to 52°C?
52°C balances Legionella control and scald risk reduction. Storage water heaters are typically set above 60°C to prevent Legionella bacteria growth in the stored water. The HFT30001 blends this hot stored water with cold supply water to deliver a safer 52°C mixed temperature at the outlet — reducing scalding risk while maintaining sufficient temperature to prevent Legionella survival in the distribution pipe between the valve and the fixture.
Can the adjustment range be restricted for safety?
Yes. OEM orders can specify a factory-preset temperature range of 35–55°C, 40–50°C, or 30–60°C that mechanically limits how far the handwheel can be turned. This prevents users from setting the outlet temperature above the preset maximum — important in facilities serving children, elderly residents, or other vulnerable users. Contact the Legom team to specify the required preset range when ordering.
Does this valve require any maintenance?
The thermostatic cartridge should be inspected annually. In hard water areas, scale can accumulate on the cartridge and reduce temperature control accuracy or cause the valve to stick. If outlet temperature becomes inconsistent or the handwheel becomes stiff, the cartridge may require descaling or replacement. Contact the Legom team for cartridge replacement specifications for the G1/2 model.
